Dark Prince - Jig Nymph The deception of the silhouette. In a world of fluorescent nymphs and flash, black is a precise technical choice. In many light conditions—from bright sun to murky water—a dark, sharp silhouette is the most realistic and recognizable imitation for a fish. The Dark Prince is designed on this principle. It is a fly based 90% on its silhouette.
The Silhouette (Imitation): Built almost entirely with black pheasant tail and black hare's dubbing, and finished with a black bead, the Dark Prince presents the fish with an unmistakable and natural profile.
The Deception (Attraction): Pure black is static. To add life without spooking the fish, the deception relies on subtle signals. Not an aggressive "hot spot," but an internal glow: a purple copper wire ribbing and a purple pearlescent tinsel wing case. These elements don't "scream"; they create a reflection of life, a translucency that intrigues the fish without alarming it. It's an incredibly versatile nymph: use it in small sizes (#16) for an imitative approach in clear water, or in larger sizes (#14) to maximize the silhouette in murkier water.
